Planning to test drive a car into Malaysia? Learn whether demo or showroom vehicles need a VEP & RFID tag to cross the border legally.
Yes — any Singapore-registered vehicle entering Malaysia, even for a short drive or demonstration, must have a valid VEP and RFID tag issued by JPJ Malaysia. Whether the vehicle is brand new, used for a customer test drive, or operated by a dealership, it must comply with Malaysia’s cross-border rules.
In all cases, temporary status does not exempt the car from VEP laws.
To stay compliant, it’s best to apply for VEP in advance, even for short-term demo trips.
We handle everything — from document submission and JPJ follow-up to RFID installation — all without needing to visit Malaysia.
