Returning to Malaysia after a long time away? Ensure your VEP is still valid to avoid border crossing issues.
The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) requires every foreign-registered vehicle entering Malaysia to have a valid VEP. This permit is linked to your RFID tag and your vehicle’s registration details.
If anything changes — your insurance lapses, your contact details change, or your RFID becomes inactive — you could face problems at the checkpoint. While the VEP doesn’t automatically expire from lack of use, certain conditions can cause it to be flagged as inactive or invalid.
We know your time in Malaysia is limited, so our service is designed for maximum convenience:
Don’t let your VEP lapse while you’re away. With MyMechanic, seasonal residents get a proactive solution — we check, update, and fix your VEP issues before they cause problems.
